 Hi Mr. Justice Sarpong,

We strongly recommend that you read over your work, or have it read over by a competent English scholar before rushing for publication, in order to help maintain a certain standard of writing on Ghanaweb.

This is for the sake of our youth. There is not a single article of yours that is free of grammatical errors. This does not give a good impression of yourself not help the young ones who are struggling with basic English grammar!

For example, in the very first paragraph of this article we read:

"NPP [did not enskinned] Aliu Mahama to the 'throne'of its 2008 Presidential candidacy..."

When you use "did" you should never follow it up with a past tense! It is difficult to believe your claim of holding an MBA in Economics, when you are ignorant of what every student in the JSS ought to know before moving on to the SHS!

We offer individualized courses online for free. If you are interested you may visit the blog specially designed to help you out at the SARPONGLISH.

 Sincerely,

Jacobus Eliza Johannes Capiteinne, Ph.D., Editor-In-Chief,

Teaching English As A Foreign Language To The Akans Of Ghana, A Case Study.

A Book Coming Soon To A Shelve Near You!

PREFACE

You will find in these pages, some common English errors committed by the Akans of Ghana, as a result of the specifics of the language one interference. This study is very interesting because the subject selected is barely literate in the English language, but has assumed the airs of an English scholar on a very popular Ghanaian website called Ghanaweb.com. Being an Akan myself gives me a sympathetic understanding of the grammatical dilemmas that the mother tongue poses as we wade through the uncharted English terrain.

This is an occasion I could not resist. Mr. Sarpong has written several libelious comments about me on Ghanaweb simply because he disagrees with me politically. Here is also someone who demonstrates an unquenchable need to impress others as a scholar, simply because he has contempt for the political opinions of his adversaries, and wishes to condemn them, as he ever so often does, as "illiterate idiots!" His problem is that even though he is constantly trying to play on spelling and grammatical mistakes to undermine very sound political arguments, he does so with a barrage of grammatical errors of his own.

What I have found amazing is the fact that he even continues to repeat mistakes that have been corrected several times over! And here is someone who will die to write correctly in order to impress. The fact that he keeps making such mistakes, even though he would rather not make himself such a laughing-stock in a struggle he himself has provoked, explains the power of the language one interfernce in both learning and teaching of English as a foreign language.

I started following the subject on Wednesday, 11 11 2009, and whenever I get the time I try to record some mistakes, publicly challenge and compel him to write correctly. His writings have improved tremendously, but the basic mistakes persist. This study seeks to record and classify such recurrent errors, trace their roots to the source of the language one interference, and help the student to overcome these very specific problems.

I invite the public to send by way of comments, any "Sarpongnese" bullet they encounter on Ghanaweb.com. Thank you very much for your co-operation. The results of this study shall be made freely available after we have been able to "harvest" at leat, one thousand "bullets" from Mr. Justice Sarpong of Houston, Texas.

OFFICE OF THE ODIKRO.
a companion of the black star,

Subject: YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

You claim you have an MBA with a "selective"* in economics, yet there has not been a single article written which remotely resembles economics or how we can develop this country! *[Sarpong must have heard of the word "elective" in a conversation but confused it with a "selective" in trying to pull a fast one on us!] All we see is a wanton display of energetic stupidity and disgusting illiteracy!

You are clearly raising a red herring which will not do you any good. You have written too much nonsense in a rather short article. Our national priorities today include exposing imperialist puppets like Akufo-Addo who is secretly waiting in the wings to spring up US Africa Command bases all over the place to control our oil and that of the entire Gulf of Guinea!

This is more serious than anything you can write about President Mills and his son!

Also, I told you that it seems each time you write stupid things about the President, you issue too much bullets! This is a pity because you spend most part of your time correcting the English of contributors in the forums of Ghanaweb. I keep telling you to put an end to that since you are no better, but to no avail. You need to know that English is not our national language so allow people to write without you making corrections including spell-checks all the time!

It is so annoying to see a semi-illiterate like you calling people you disagree with as "illiterate idiots"! And it is only for this reason that I have decided to point out your own bullets to you!

NOW THE FOLLOWING ARE BULLETS!

*1"As a political junkie who [absorb] and [keep] political events in perspective,"

should rather read:

"As a political junkie who ABSORBS and KEEPS political events in perspective,"

*2 "I know President Mills [like] to portray himself as a man of God"

Should rather read:

"I know President Mills LIKES to portray himself as a man of God"

*3 "A man who [care] less about his own blood cannot be a caring President"

Should rather read:

"A man who CARES less about his own blood cannot be a caring President"

BULLETS BEYOND REPAIRS:

*4. President Mills is flummoxing Ghanaians to believe

*5. "Though your polymorphous from a University Lecturer to President"

*6. "he challenge from Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings who picked her forms accompanied by two of her children will anneal you"

YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

OFFICE OF THE ODIKRO.
a companion of the black star,

Subject: YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

Dear Justice Sarpong,

Good day!

OFFICE OF THE ODIKRO.
a companion of the black star,

To: Mr. Justice Sarpong, Houston, Texas, via Ghanaweb comments.

Subject: YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

Dear Justice Sarpong,

I have been instructed by the Odikro to extend to you his fraternal greetings!

You write,
'Let's examine how he based or reach his conclusion that Nana Addo is not a drug addict.

“Clinically, I can recognize when one is under the influence of drugs but I can confirm that Nana Addo is not a drug addict, I can bet that there is nothing in his blood,” he said.'

I am happy to agree with you that a medical officer "can recognize when one is under the influence of drugs". The problem is that this is not the same as declaring what is going on in the blood without the benefit of a laboratory test. It is Arthur Kennedy who is misleading the public.

If you people do not see any value in refuting these allegations, why don't you simply shut up and stop insulting our intelligence and making a laughing-stock out of your very good selves? We all know who Dr. Arthur Kennedy is! This shows that Akufo-Addo is now desperate. Like the poor cat in the adage, he may well want to catch the fish, but he does not want to wet his paws! Why bother with empty, ineffective, silly and ridiculous denials when there is a better way of settling the question? It also shows that they have something to hide! Why would they go to such lengths with ridiculous claims instead of settling the issue once and for all in a transparent and scientific manner?

Is Arthur Kennedy now T. B. Joshua? Was he trained at the medical school to examine the blood of his patients with his naked eyes? How can he make such claims even if he had his glasses on?

Why have these people picked up spoons and dancing around the soup instead of drinking it? Is Arthur Kennedy now telling us he has a medical laboratory attached to his eye sights?

Did he ask Mr. Akufo-Addo to even open his mouth for him to examine his teeth? You don't need to be a medical doctor to know that one of the symptoms of the premature loss of teeth is as a result of a long period of drug abuse.

Dr. Kennedy cannot tell an HIV infected blood from one filled to the brim with Plasmodium falciparum! What do we say when such a doctor wants to give a clean bill of health to a suspect with a toothless mouth and no hair on his head? We also know that in addition to the premature loss of teeth, the other visible symptom is the loss of hair?

Arthur Kennedy has to go back and examine the suspect USING STANDARD MEDICAL PRACTICE AND STOP TALKING LIKE A TRADITIONAL HERBALIST!!!

I have told you time and again to stop treating anybody here as an illiterate! You are not in the right position to do so. You give too much grammatical bullets in your chosen medium of communication to be taken seriously as a scholar. If if you in a glass house, don't throw stones, if you live in a stone house, you may throw glasses! You can't even correct your own struggling grammar, even though you would have obviously loved to do so and pass as a scholar! You simply want to put up the airs of a scholar to put others down as illiterates! Fortunately each time you try, it backfires! You have been betrayed by your own bullets!

Comment: CORRECTION
"Taken, not taking.
Laboratory work to erase all doubts, not laboratory work erase or doubts."

Is that all? Hehehehehehehehehe!

What is this?
"Let's examine how he based or [reach] his conclusion that Nana Addo is not a drug addict."

I can see only one illiterate in this forum and the person is YOU! I nevertheless avail myself of this opportunity, to extend to you, on behalf of the Odikro, Nana Akyea Mensah II, the assurances of our highest consideration.

Have a nice week-end, my friend!

Forward Ever! Backwards Never!!!

Sincerely,

Pur'gu Saarpe!
